Heavy duty Air Compressors-Pine Township firefighters receive grant for air compressor

Time: 2010-02-01

Pine Township fire department received a grant, but it is not for the construction of a Heavy duty Air Compressors new hall that is sorely needed.

The department Mini Air Compressor will receive $32,790 through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Led lamp light Federal Management Agency, Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper announced on Wednesday. The funding will be used for the purchase of an air compressor unit so firefighters can fill oxygen tanks at the station, said assistant chief Bill Cloak.

Firefighters do not have such a unit available in their station, he said.

"We have to take our air bottles to Distant or Rayburn or somewhere like that," he said.

Members of the Pine Township fire department met with representatives of local legislators Wednesday to discuss potential funding sources to replace the current fire hall in the village of Templeton. The building is in disrepair, caused in part by a leaky roof that has damaged the first and second floors.

Cloak stressed that the grant is not for building expenses but exclusively for the compressor unit.
